Ca' di Dio

About…

Surrounded by the Grand Canal and embodying the splendours of centuries of Venetian architecture, there lies a hidden boutique hotel within the epicentre of Venice. Amongst the city’s contemporary art district of Arsenale, our favourite Venetian holiday escape is waiting to be enjoyed – welcome to Ca’ di Dio!

Ca' di Dio, one of Venice’s newest 5-Star Hotels, has incorporated sustainability practices into every aspect of the customers experience. The Hotel was opened in August 2021 and took its time to perfect high levels of luxury service. The interior of the hotel is decorated with extravagant textiles, furnishings and hand-crafted items & fabrics from local artisans (impressive considering the building dates back to 1272) famous for its Italian Gothic style of architecture. With 9 deluxe rooms & 57 suites that overlook either the Palazzo Ducale, the Basilica di San Marco, San Giorgio, the Hotel’s courtyard or the Lagoon…trust us, you’re in for a treat!

Ca' di Dio also offers two exceptional accommodations for special couples who desire panoramic Venice city views. The two Altana Suites are comprised of a King bed and marble en-suite bathroom, a comfortable living area and spectacular private terrace overlooking the San Marco Basin. These rooms are ideal for couples who desire an exceptional experience or are celebrating a marked occasion.

The Hotel incorporates every aspect of Italian indulgence and invites guests to spoil themselves amongst its impressive facilities. Make a reservation at VERO Restaurant and dine either al fresco or within the fine dining room. For a more relaxed environment, the Essentia Restaurant can be found in the private internal courtyard and serves your favourite antipasti, salads and pasta dishes. Don’t forget to make time for an evening drink or nightcap at Alchemia Bar! The bar staff are fully trained to deliver classic and contemporary cocktails, or dust off a bottle of prestigious wine.

Ca' di Dio also offers its guests with pampering opportunities at its Pura Spa and Boutique. This slice of tranquillity is the perfect to recharge one’s batteries and utilise personalised treatments and relaxation packages, as well as a modern equipped gym.

Key Sustainable Features…

Travel Matters is delighted to announce our partnership with Ca’ di Dio, who have been recognised by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council, as result of meeting their rigorous criteria. This is due to their incredible commitment to sustainability, which has focused on community impact, environmental awareness, protection of local culture and further sustainability systems.

A revolutionary environmental initiative now sees then hotel use Venice’s lagoon water within their heating and hydrologic & hydraulic systems, reducing energy output by 20% and remove approximately 110 tons of CO2 emissions per year.

Within the grounds of the Hotel is a garden, which is somewhat rare for a Hotel in Venice. The Head Chef, Raimondo Squeo, takes great care being able to design seasonal menus from the Hotel’s garden that grows its own vegetables.

Embracing the locale has been as the forefront of this enterprising business approach – a collaboration the fashion label Malefatte Venezia has been established, where prisoners reintegrate into employment by manufacturing sustainable gifts like organic cotton T-shirts and bags that have been recycled from posters, notebooks and wallpaper left over from the hotel rooms.

Hotel staff can also be seen darting around in fresh & stylish uniforms that have been designed by Wao Nylong, who use recycled fishing nets, fabric scraps and industrial plastic to create their unique garments.

Map & Location…

Venice, The Floating City, was constructed on an Archipelago over 100 islands, traversed by 177 canals and navigated by crossing 300 bridges. Known for its bountiful selection of museums, historical buildings of monumental artistic & cultural importance, churches, bars and restaurants – Venice is certainly for lovers of the Italian culture. Within Venice’s historic centre, the islands of Murano and Burano can be found. These are renowned for their glass-blowing and lace-making past and you are strongly encouraged to take an afternoon to admire many of these craft in local’s shops. Not far from here lays the Brenta River and the gorgeous scenes of the Miranese area and iconic Venice Lagoon.

A standard day in Venice consists of food, culture, food and culture. We suggest starting your morning at Gallerie dell'Accademia to enjoy a Caffè & Pane, Burro e Marmellata, Fette and Biscotti. From here, you will have ample choice of restaurants and unrestricted views of the Giudecca Canal. Make your way to Dorsoduro, where you will be in awe of this creative and rustic district that is full of idiosyncratic shops owned by mask-making workshops, such as  Ca' Macana. As evening approaches, stroll down to Campo San Polo, where you will be able to visit the formidable Basilica S.Maria Gloriosa dei Frari. Your final decision of the day will be to decide which restaurant and bar you choose to seek refuge in after your day of culture…’Parla Come Mangi’ (Speak the way you eat!).

Venturing further afield will reveal the island of the Lido of Venice, where you can enjoy golden sands and clear waters. This is a result of conscientious environmental efforts that has seen the beaches to become preserved and for the sea to have grown cleaner year after year. As a result, the beaches of the Lido Island have been accredited with an eco-label Blue Flag, for several years.

Venice has everything you need for an unforgettable family experience or romantic getaway.
