Read More“Beautiful location, gardens are lovely and if you visit the frog ponds by the tea house you will be serenaded by the froggy choir. Lovely rooms well kept, breakfast is good and plentiful, restaurant quite expensive but we made use of the Club House where the food was excellent and the view amazing. We used the hotel bus to get into Funchal which is a free service. Would definitely recommend if you like the peace and quiet and will be returning in the future”

Read More“My wife and I stayed at the hotel for seven nights over Christmas. The accommodation is spacious and the bed was extremely comfortable, bathroom was also large and the decor very traditional. We were made very welcome by the staff who were all very friendly and helpful. Staying on a bed and breakfast basis the breakfasts were excellent with a choice of hot cooked or continental. Eggs can also be cooked to order if you require poached or scrambled. As we prefer to eat during the day and sample local restaurants we only had one evening meal at the hotel which was very good. The hotel also provides a shuttle service to and from Funchal which needs to be booked in advance. A shuttle also runs to the golf club - again advance booking is required. The hotel also organised some excursions and also a wine tasting all of which were complimentary to residents. The hotel grounds and gardens are lovely and all in all it was a very relaxing and enjoyable stay.”

Read More“We had an excellent stay at Casa Velha Do Palheiro. The location was stunning, set in between the gardens and the golf course. Staff were very friendly and helpful, the rooms spacious and clean, and the food excellent. We managed 4 games of golf in our week - recommend use of a buggy for the golf. Definitely recommend the hotel to our friends”
