Tabacón Thermal Resort & Spa is unlike any Hotel that Travel Matters has showcased! Hidden in the peaceful communes of the Costa Rican rainforest, at the base of Arenal Volcano, this unique Resort is awaiting your arrival.

At its nucleus, Tabacón is nourished with its own Thermal Spring & River and is accompanied by over 872 acres of primary and secondary rainforest. We therefore invite guests to rejoice in what is unique destination that is guaranteed to guide guests in a voyage of transformation. The resort has been built around the river, allowing its natural snake-like shape to remain intact. This river nourishes more than 200 species of plants and flowers, which are home to many wonderful species. The sunbathing & swimming areas showcase contemporary designed pools that have temperatures ranging from 22 to 44 degrees Celsius. The main swimming pool has a swim-up bar and thermal water slide, so build up some ‘Dutch Courage’ and tackle the water chute!

For those who wish to mix pampering with a touch of physical exertion, you will be pleased to know that the Fitness Centre is fully equipped with LifeCycle cardio equipment, circuit training machines, free weights and exercise balls.

Ave Del Paraíso ensures a more traditional and casual dining experience, where guests can sample locally sourced ingredients from the à la carte lunch menu and dinner buffet; which is accompanied by a grill station, salad bar, hot entrées and nightly menu rotations. Los Tucanes is Tabacón’s gourmet restaurant where guests can find a daily buffet breakfast that includes eight stations, featuring fresh cut tropical fruits, made to order eggs and omelettes, hand tossed Tortilla & Chorreadas, cold cut and cheese selections and much more. An à la carte dinner international menu is provided in the evening, providing trans-national favourites. Finally, the special Ephemeral Table is exclusively tucked away for special occasions! If a 6-course menu & drinks accompaniment, which has been specially designed by the Head Chef, is your kind of thing, this is a must!

Within Tabacón, guests can choose from 103 climate-controlled en-suite rooms, which have striking views of its gardens, the forest or the volcano. Each of these abodes is furnished with Costa Rican woods and hand-crafted furnishings by Costa Rican artisans, cable television, personal safe deposit boxes, minibars and coffee selection. The Ministry of Environment of Costa Rica has accredited Tabacón as a Carbon Neutral Hotel & Resort, due to its protection of flora & fauna, reduction in electricity consumption, organic product purchasing program, waste management program and communication & investment program to improve public education facilities for local schools. As well as this, Tabacón is a key beneficiary of Pure Trek Canyoning, Jacamar Tours, Don Rufinos Restaurant, Wave Rafting and Anywhere Costa Rica.

The Tabacón Experience Centres are located on the hot thermo-mineral springs - a series of natural pools that are strategically located amidst gardens that exquisitely landscape the environment and form cascades in the heart of the forest, creating a sense of pure tranquillity. Isolated within, you will find Shangri-La Gardens, a plush and luxurious private garden. This exclusive and adult-only secluded area is in the upper part of the mineral spring’s complex, a private bar and lavishly comfortable cocoons.

Shangri-La is comprised of six natural thermal mineral spring pools, all heated naturally by Arenal Volcano. Your private oasis!

Map & Location…

Within Central America, Costa Rica (‘Rich Coast’) can be discovered.
